Frequently asked questions.

  • Yes!! There is FREE, covered parking in the garage at the back of the building for all clients. There is also free street parking directly in front of the MySalonSuite building.

  • We are located at 150 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472. The outside of the building has the logo of our parent company, My Salon Suite (directly next to Title Boxing). Once you have parked either in the parking garage or on the street, enter the building into the lobby and dial 104 on the keypad, then press the green call button. This will alert me that you are here and allow me to see you, speak to you and buzz you in. Open the door and head to the left. I am the second suite on the right, Suite 104. If you have any trouble at all, please call the salon at 617-319-7502.

  • The state of your hair when you arrive is quite possibly the most CRUCIAL piece of your puzzle.

    Please arrive with your hair down, freshly detangled, completely dry and in a wash and go style that is no more than 3 days old. Make sure you have washed, conditioned and FULLY detangled your hair (with a tool in small sections). Style your wash and go with your go to products and allow time to completely dry from roots to ends. Use whatever method best fits your lifestyle (airdry, diffuse or under a hooded dryer).

    *This is the MOST IMPORTANT thing for you to do in order for us to serve you best. It allows us to see how the texture naturally sits and behaves while taking shrinkage into account*

    • Please avoid using any kind of butters or oils before your appointment.

    • Please DO NOT come with your hair pulled back into a pony tail or a bun. Avoid putting your hair up or clipping it back as much as absolutely possible before your appointment. Any kind of clipping or tying will stretch out curls beyond where they naturally sit and could lead to curls being cut much shorter than desired.

    • Please do NOT brush your hair out. Detangle when the curls are wet, using conditioner, giving yourself enough dry time between setting and your appointment time.

    *If your curls are not prepared properly, this will result in a resetting fee of $20. A $10 detangling fee will be added for every additional 10 minutes. *

  • The short answer is no! Unless you have brought someone, you and I will be the only two people in the space for the duration of your appointment. In the event a client runs over due to dry time, that will be communicated to you at arrival.

  • Due to the current Co-Vid 19 pandemic and all its variants, we are asking that you do your best to not bring a guest with you. The Curl Nook is a small, intimate space for you to unwind. Please do all you can to come in with your self care as the primary focus.

    *Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

    *Children under the age of 13 must have a parent/guardian present from beginning to end of their child’s service.

  • The beautiful thing about my suite is that it is COMPLETELY private. The sliding door is clear glass, allowing sunlight in from the front windows on the building and for a wonderful feel of community. However, I have installed curtains that when drawn, provide complete privacy for you within the space. I am so excited about this feature as it allows me to serve severely under-served communities, as well as giving an extra level of privacy for each and every person within the suite.

  • Curly cuts can translate to a blown out style, with body and movement. However, being that curls have different spring factors, tighter sections or individual curls can appear longer than others when the hair is straight. If you primarily wear your hair straight or if you are still using a flat iron on your hair and do not plan to transition to a curly style, we do not recommend a curly cut. Think about it this way: it makes the most sense to cut your hair according to how you wear it 90% of the time.

  • This is not a service we provide. We aim to promote your curls in the way that you wear them 90% of the time. We do not provide silk press services. For our straight or straighter clients, blowing the hair out is either the finishing style included in the haircut or is available after a full consultation.

  • Yes!! As we always say, straight is still a texture! You are just as welcome to come hang out with us.

  • No matter the terminology — cut, trim, shaping, dusting — any time a pair of shears is used, it is considered a cut. Yes, even if it’s less than a centimetre.

  • The books automatically open 3 months at a time to the day. This allows for clients that need to book 6-8 week color appointments or 3-4 month follow up appointment the flexibility needed to book them accordingly.

  • No, we do not have a cancellation list available. All last minute appointment availability due to rescheduling or cancellations will be available to book through the website and be posted to instagram. Those appointments are always first come, first serve.

  • We use Square for payments, accepting all major credit and debit cards, as well as all tap to pay options such as Apple, Samsung and Google Pay. You are welcome to leave a gratuity for your stylist in cash if you wish.

  • The short answer is no, we do not currently provide these services. The lightening process can be aggressive on the hair and can straighten out your pattern if pushed just a minute too far. The price point for these services are often a variable based upon how much hair you have and what your desired color is. We are more than open to having conversations and consultations around this.   • Breathe. Don’t speed. Simply call the salon and let us know. We want you to arrive safely and in one piece. If you are more than 15 minutes late, there is a chance the service you are booked for may not be achievable in the time we have left. In that case, we will consult together to execute the best game plan to still have you feeling fabulous!
